From a quick thought to a quiet reflection – here's how Dottie shows up on your iPhone.
You don't need prompts or a system. Just say what happened.
Dictate while you walk or jot a quick line at night. A few words is enough.
Apple Intelligence on your device turns your notes into a clean recap and a short reflection.
Dottie reads across your days and shows you the throughlines you'd never notice alone.
One simple journal — with the AI, the voice, and the privacy that suit you.
On-device Apple Intelligence by default — or bring ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini.
Five companions, from a supportive friend to a snarky sidekick.
Write, dictate, and read past entries with no connection. Apple Intelligence runs locally.
Your entries are yours. Export everything from Settings whenever you like.
The interface ships in 10 languages. Journal in any language; Dottie replies in kind.
No sign-up, no email, no profile. Open the app and start writing.
Most journaling apps quietly upload your most personal thoughts. Dottie doesn't. The default is on-device, the storage is local, and going online is a choice you make – not a default we hide.
Apple Intelligence runs locally. Summaries and reflections never travel to a server.
Everything is stored with SwiftData on your iPhone only. We chose privacy over sync.
Cloud models are opt-in. Dottie tells you exactly what gets sent and nothing is stored on our side.
Quick answers to the things people ask before they download.
Yes. Dottie stores every note locally on your iPhone using SwiftData. There is no cloud sync and no server account. When you use the default Apple Intelligence model, even the AI processing happens on-device, so your notes never leave the phone.
Yes. Writing, dictation, reading past entries, and Apple Intelligence summaries all work without an internet connection. The optional cloud AI models (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) require a network only when you choose to use them.
Apple Intelligence runs on-device and is the default. You can also opt in to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini via a private proxy. Cloud models are clearly labeled and your text is only sent when you ask for an analysis or summary – it is never stored on Dottie's servers.
No. You can journal without any AI at all and just keep a clean, private diary. If your iPhone supports Apple Intelligence, the on-device summaries unlock automatically. If not, you can still use the optional cloud models.
Dottie is free to download and the journaling itself is free forever. Cloud AI models are a Pro feature; Apple Intelligence on-device summaries are included at no cost.
Yes. You can export your entries from Settings. Because everything is stored on-device, your data is yours to take with you at any time.
No, by design. Dottie is single-device only – there is no iCloud sync and no cross-device account. That's the privacy trade-off; it keeps your journal off any server.
Dottie's interface ships in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese. You can journal in any language; Dottie replies in whatever language you write in.
