# Dottie

> Dottie is a privacy-first AI journaling app for iPhone. Users write or dictate their thoughts and an AI companion produces summaries and reflections. The default mode uses Apple Intelligence and runs entirely on-device; no notes leave the phone. Optional cloud models (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) are opt-in and routed through a privacy-respecting proxy. All data is stored locally with SwiftData — there is no cloud sync and no server account.

Dottie is built by Bjorn Schefzyk in Germany. The app is GDPR compliant and free to download; cloud AI models are a Pro subscription. The product surface includes a daily timeline of journal cards, voice/text capture, per-day AI summary + reflection, five AI personalities (Supportive Friend, Thoughtful Coach, Straight Shooter, Wise Mentor, Snarky Sidekick), four AI model options (Apple Intelligence on-device, plus optional ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini), an in-app chat that has context from recent entries, optional location tagging, and optional local reminders.
